Natural Bridge Caverns Duathlons 2011

Four Races - One Day

1) Cave Bear: 2 mile run/15 mile bike/ 2 mile run

2) Sabertooth: 2 mile run/12 mile OFF-Road bike/2 mile run

3) Woolly Mammoth: 5k run/26 mile bike/ 5k run

4) T-REX: 5 mile run/26 mile bike/2 mile run ( Very challenging 1^st run)

USAT Report on NBC Duathlons (2010)

All Races will start 600ft in the belly of Natural Bridge Caverns. The start will be a time trial start with an athlete starting every 5-8 seconds. There will be a few no pass zones in the cave which will be strictly enforced. No passing will be allowed on the switchback uphill path in the cave.

All runs will be on caliches road (closed course) that are well maintained.

All bike routes except the Sabertooth will be on asphalt country roads. The Sabertooth bike course will be off road on jeep trails and single track.

Packet Pickup

Packet Pickup will be at Natural Bridge Caverns on Saturday 11-19-2011 between 1:00pm and 4:00pm. Plan to pickup your packet and then enjoy the complimentary cave tour that is part of your registration. Please be aware that they have 50 person limits on their tours so you may have to wait a little bit.

Packet pickup at the Host Hotel, La Quinta Inns will be from 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Saturday.

Packet pickup on Sunday starts at 5:00am and is over at 6:30am.

You must be an annual member of USAT or you must purchase a day pass for $10.00 at packet pickup, cash or check. You may also buy an annual pass for $39.00.

You must bring a photo ID and your USAT card when you pickup your packet. You cannot pickup someone elses packet and someone else cannot pickup your packet. Relay teams must all sign in before their packet is released.

Race Day INFO:

Parking: We will have volunteers giving you directions of where to park.

Transition opens at 5:00am
Transition closes at 6:30am
Pre-Race meeting starts at 6:35
T-Rex Race starts at 7:00am.

The Woolly Mammoth race will start right after the T-Rex, followed by the Cave Bear and the Sabertooth Race will start last.

After the race we will have our usual fare of Kilobassa Sausage, Frito Pies, Fruit, pastries and other goodies.
